Cada uno a su manera, pero todos con el mismo sentimiento de pesar, los tenistas que participan en el Abierto de Australia 2020, expresaron sus condolencias por el fallecimiento del exbasquetbolista Kobe Bryant, junto a su hija Gianna y siete personas más, en un trágico accidente de helicóptero.

Al final del encuentro de Octavos de Final, Rafael Nadal, número uno del mundo, entrevistado por la leyenda Jonh McEnroe en la cancha de la Rod Laver Arena, tras vencer en cuatro sets al local Nick Kirgios, expresó su sorpresa y malestar por la perdida de Bryant, a quien tuvo oportunidad de conocer y convivir, gracias a amigos en común como el basquetbolista español Paul Gasol.
